Ben Youssef Madrasa – Morocco

Ben Youssef Madrasa.jpg

When visiting Marrakech in Morocco, go and admire the Ben Youssef Madrasa! This quranic college, founded in the 14th century and named after the Almoravid sultan Ali ibn Yusuf (reigned 1106–1142), is one of the most stunning sights in the city – maybe even in the whole country. With its delicate stucco work and mosaics, it is a brilliant sample of the artistic Islamic architecture. It is also the largest college in the whole country!

Fantastic snap by Cara Jourdan & Allison Kuhl.
