The Shwedagon Pagoda – Myanmar

Shwedagon Pagoda

If you are heading over to Myanmar’s capital, Yangon, don’t forget to see one of the most famous Buddhist pagodas in the world! The Shwedagon Pagoda, or locally known as Shwedagon Zedi Daw The, is 99 meters high and can be seen from most places of Yangon as the golden roof illuminates the city. It is supposed to be 2,600 years old, and is decorated with over 6,000 diamonds, rubies, topaz, sapphires, and even a big emerald that is positioned in such a way that the suns rays reflect of it.
