Located in the historic city of Jerusalem in Israel, the “Church of the Holy Sepulchre” is perhaps one of the most important churches to visit, as it is the site of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus of Nazareth! It has long been a major pilgrimage center for Christians from all around the globe and is known for its importance in several phases of medieval architectural history. Interestingly, in March the “Edicule” shrine was reopened after a renovation team exposed two layers of marble slabs over what is said to have been the burial chamber of Christ! More discoveries yet to come.
